Guiding Principles

  • -Children build understandings through responsive, positive relationships with caregivers and active engagement with peers, materials, and experiences.
  • -Learning is sequential in nature, building on prior knowledge and events.
  • -Learners need a broad foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences geared toward meeting unique learning needs.
  • -Quality programming is dependent on research-based teaching practices and continuous, multi-dimensional assessment.
  • -Programs are more effective when families and early childhood caregivers work together to support learning.
  • -Every child has the capability to be successful given appropriate supports and guidance.

Program Description:

Every program at My Learning Safari is based on the belief that children build understandings through responsive, positive relationships with caregivers and active engagement with peers, materials, and experiences. We know that investigation, play, and focused intentional teaching will spur early childhood learning to greater heights and develop a strong sense of personal efficacy.

Learning occurs as experiences connect with children's prior learning resulting in a deeper understanding of the concept being taught. This happens in a sequential manner and My Learning Safari staff are trained to understand the developmental levels of children when designing learning opportunities. We know that it is essential to continually assess all aspects of development including physical, social, emotional, and cognitive levels in order to distinguish how each child thinks and learns when differentiating learning experiences to best meet each child's unique needs.

We understand that families are children's first teachers and a strong home/program partnership is critical to the success of children while at My Learning Safari. Two-way, positive communication on a consistent basis is essential to helping children flourish across all developmental domains. Parents are encouraged to actively engage in this exciting learning safari adventure as we explore and grow together!
